The Commoners

Brief Faction History

The Commoners is one 9 playable Factions available your character has the options of choosing from. Commoners make up majority of the population in Terra! Commoners are the members of every kingdom, they are the backbone of all the kingdoms when you think about it! They provide armor, crops from the farmers, blacksmithing, beautiful jewelry and silks worn by all the Divine, it all come from the hard work of the Commoner Faciton. This faction is mostly compiled Creatio, and Adameic.  it is rare to find a Celestial willing to get their hands dirty! But it is also the poorest especially in WhiteStone, where the current family in rules King cares more about himself than the well being of his kingdom. This same fate is also seen in Viredda, where Adam rules. The Commoners faction is comprised of three social classes:

High class, which is NOT considered royalty, but they are very well off in their lives and can afford the more luxurious things in life, missing a day of work isn't going to put an equine in a situation of having to choose will get eat that day or not. High classed equines are seen to own very nice homes, and a decent amount of land.

Middle class, this is a good 60% of the faction! This isn't a terrible class to be in, members in this class aren't as rich as the high class, but every once in a while they may be able to treat themselves to something nice in their lives. With proper perri management and hard work, middle class equines can have the nicer homes, and acquire a decent amount of land!

Low Class, often referred to as the filth and peasantry of the kingdom, they are often so weak or sickly that they cannot hold a job if they are lucky enough to be offered a job. There are some who do work jobs, but it is not enough to make ends meet every time. Many equines can end up in this class for all different kinds of reasons, maybe they're on the run from someone and need to lie low, maybe they're disowned from highly wealthy families, everyone's story is different. Low class members of society are lucky if they can rent a small dwelling for a couple of pieces of perri, it isn't much but it's a roof over their head every night, while others live in the streets hoping they'll be graced with an act of mercy.

Commoners work skilled to simple jobs simply because they're not interested in other factions and what they do, don't have Magic, no spiritual connection, and don't know the first thing about healing sucking chest wounds like the Healers faction, and definitely don't have the bloodlines and strength to be serving in the Order, this Faction takes those from all different backgrounds who don't exactly fit in the norms to other factions, or just want a simpler life. Commoners are the everyday equine, they are the ones who make clothing, who farm, who run shops, and make up vast amounts of a kingdoms population. Without this faction a King or Queen wouldn't really have many members to rule over.. Commoners have always had a bad rep for themselves, especially when it was in the eyes of a God or Goddess, the Gods and Goddesses, most of them, viewed them as a eye sore in society, probably because this is a lower to barely middle class of society faction, and although they are far from dumb, they are seen dumb. There are high class members of this society, but it is not a large percentage.  This is an extremely undervalued faction because without them, most of the world would starve, wouldn't have clothing, a Divine couldn't enjoy the fancy jewels they wear daily because there wouldn't be any jewelers in the world or farmers to give other factions these things! Commoners are found everywhere in every kingdom in every continent they are very vital to the structure of a kingdom.

Common Jobs

Farmer

Farmers grow the food that everyone eats! They are responsible for basically all survival of the population in any continent, without farmers, most equine don't know how to plant seeds and farm themselves. Farmers don't have an easy job, they must meet quotas and whether the demand can be met is all up to the weather and the crops. Farmers can be meat farmers, veggie farmers, or specialize!

Jeweler

Have an eye for the finest and shiniest, eh? You would probably fit well working as a jeweler! From sunrise to late in the night even they craft beautiful bracelets, necklaces, decorative chest pieces, bridles, if it's got jewels in it, a jeweler makes it! Jewelers are in high demand especially amongst the royals who love the finest things in the world.

Merchant

Merchants are your shopkeepers! They run their own businesses selling their goods that can be food, clothing, armor, etc. Their usual place of work are at heavily trafficked places in kingdoms where they know tons of equines pass daily in hopes to sell their goods.

Artisan

An Artisan job is PERFECT for an equine who loves to work with their hands! Artisans are your blacksmiths, your tailors, jewelers, bakers, artists, brewers, musicians, armorers, weaponsmith, there are endless jobs that fall within the artisan category!

Builders

Builders are responsible for one of two things, or both sometimes! And that's all the designs inside and out of a structure that's not naturally made, like houses, bridges, castles, and more, and are also responsible for building said structures! Do you do both? Builders are your architects and laborers

                                                                                             Slave Trader

Not the most honorable job... Not entirely illegal either, but it's a way to make a lavish living depending on the slave being sold. Many slave traders don't have a permanent living address as they are constantly on the move going where slaves are most in demand hoping to fetch a handsome price. When they're not selling they're picking up their newest batch.

Harlot

Popular amongst sultry mares, not unheard of for stallions to join in on this profession, a harlot is someone who performs sexual services in return for payment, usually in the form of Perri. Harlots work anywhere really, but most commonly work in a Brothel where there is a flavorful variety of customers from thieves, Knights, royals... A lot of variety.. Harlots may be those selled into the sex industry also known as slavery, or they're doing this work out of their own free will

                                                                                             Entertainer

Entertainers have a variety of roles, they are the actors and actresses in playhouses, they are the musicians who play in various settings, and they are the storytellers entertaining children, elders, and adults. Entertainers may even get the honor of entertaining royal guests of the King and Queen at dinner parties.

Cleric

Ah, it seems you're very devoted to the Gods and Goddesses and know just about all there is to know about every one of them, eh? Ever thought about becoming a Cleric? Clerics preach faith to others in temples, shrines, churches, any place of worship to a God and Goddess. They often hear others confessions when they believe they have sinned and some Clerics believe they even speak to the Gods and Goddesses themselves because of their devotion.

Judge

Equines who aren't cut out to be serving in the Order for mental, strength, or bloodline reasons may find themselves still serving in that area by becoming a judge! Judges work in the courts with the King and Queen deciding a punishment for whoever and whatever situation might be presented before them. While the King and Queen in most cases have the final say, a Judge might just be able to sway a decision that would be less likely to upset the general public and cause chaos within the kingdom.

Servant

A Slave doesn't get paid for their work, unless their owner is very kind to them... This isn't a punishable position for a Commoner, though sometimes it might feel like it waiting hand and foot on someone, unless royally ordered by the ruling family a Commoner is free to choose to work as a servant in the royal house ( must be asked by another member holding a Divine character) if they wish.

Barmaid

Know your liquor pretty well? The night life sound appealing to you? Who knows who may be coming in for a drink or two in a tavern, you might even serve the King a drink! Barmaids work in places like taverns and pubs working the bar serving various types of alcohol.

Religion

This faction is allowed to believe in any God or Goddess they choose to believe in Unless your character is of Adameic species, all of the Adameic species believe solely in Adam because that is all they're taught . It's more common for equines in this faction to have their beliefs in the lesser known Gods and Goddesses, like Luna and Apollo and the others rather than the big leaguers such as Polos and Ares, but there are many in the faction who still believe in the bigger known Gods and Goddesses. Because this faction is used to being treated like dirt from more respectable factions like the Divine, their interests aren't solely on who should, if still alive, have the lost throne to rule over the whole world, but rather they focus on the ideologies that each God and Goddess had and try to apply it to living their every day lives. Occasionally they might look for personal guidance from a God or Goddess and just like every other faction as well, there are those who have lost their faith in religion completely.

There are also very few, who believe Epona is alive since she has never been truly confirmed dead, instead like the others she hides, in their hopes she's waiting for the day that Terra needs her most and will come out of hiding.

Faction Cultural Notes

  • There are three different levels of living structures in the commoner faction. High class, middle class, and low class. Members of the high class society are taken more seriously because their coin can talk. Middle class members are respected, while low class members are seen as the peasantry class.

  • Education is taught to high class members and middle class, because they can afford the schooling. While the Divine receive private schooling, the public education system is available to anyone that can afford it. Public education does not offer all that private education offers, the only way to achieve more schooling is rare, but sometimes offered by private tutors. Attending public education covers mathematics, reading, writing, and history classes. The lowest class of society cannot afford schooling unless they are receiving a helping hand leaving them when born in to such a low class often illiterate unless taught otherwise.

  • Arranged marriages are not seen often, but they can be arranged. It is often the high class arranging marriages for their children to willing members of the Divine.

  • Slaves are expensive, often owned by the Divine but it is not impossible for an equine of the higher class and even middle class to own slaves.

  • This Faction does not judge same sex relationships or same sex marriages, but where they reside may affect their abilities to be open about such things.
