History Of The Tribe:
An was the first born known to the world who could communicate with the Spirits of this world, the Spirits however, were here long before he was. There is an inside joke amongst the tribe of who came first, the Spiritualist, or the Spirits considering to most minds one must die first to become a Spirit, but that isn't the case, everything in this world is alive and when an animal passes, a tree dies, a river runs dry, it becomes a Spirit in the minds of the tribe. No one else existed in the world yet like him, and seeing the departed when no one else could not was a very disturbing thing for a young child, but he learned to cope. They spoke to him, whispered to him while he slept, amongst other things. A Mage and a Spiritualist share the similar fright, one has Spirits and Demons and what have you whispering to them, while a Mage deals with constant torment from Demons, Heka knew a great deal and helped An understand his ability. When others were brought into the world by Epona, they too had this unique frightening ability, he took it into his own hands to teach them about their gift, building a following from the ground up. The Tribe, wasn't always a specific location, that wasn't until Mia Ti had died and the Giving Tree was formed in her death. Spiritualists are nomadic, traveling vasts amounts to different parts of the world where a Spirit may beckon them. Every Spiritualists knew the God's War was coming, the Spirits knew it before they did, and An, to keep the talk down, said the Spirits were wrong and to not listen to them to keep everyone calm. His own foolishness was a big mistake. The gifts that these equines possessed were considered different then the Magic a Mage possessed and they were excluded from the Great Purge happening in the world as Ares thought their abilities to be different because it stems from a Spirit, so he offered them protection from the war that was about to begin if they fought at his side, An refused, he wouldn't dare abuse a Spirit's power in the dark twisted ways he knew was very well achievable. Because of the refusal just like the Mages, the Spiritualists suffered catastrophic loss in numbers, homes were burned, children and mothers slaughtered, stallions hanged, images were burned into those that survived somehow, and the cries of the living and the other side were heard at the end of it all. The Veil, where the Spirits co exist in this world when they pass, they became angry, violent, chaotic at the slaughter Ares started, and demanded they be bought justice a burning rage that still exists all this time after. The world fell into chaos both in the spirit world , and the living. No one knows what happened to An during the world, the last any survivor saw was a whirlwind of Spirits around him and he vanished. Many begged the Spirits for answers, but they weren't talking. All that was left to do was try and move on from this horrific event, many banded together for safety in numbers and comfort. Dark and lonely years passed for the Spiritualists, when suddenly the Veil went sporadic in talk of a new Goddess that would set the balance between the living and the dead once more, Mia Ti. When she made her emergence in the world the Spiritualists were very welcoming of her and praised her as some kind of savior even though she hadn't done anything yet. Over the years of her reign was prosperity, bountiful food, and hope, the Spirits were pleased, and things were beginning to quiet down in both worlds once again. This is where The Tribe began to be what it is today, when Adam murdered Mia Ti, her own son, a glowing white tree, as big as a Sequoia! rooted itself in the ground spreading its roots deep touching the Orabellan Sea turning it white! animals, the grass, even hoof prints, were given a bioluminescent glow when the sun went down completely transforming almost a whole upper half of the continent! Many believed that Mia Ti was asleep in that tree, and did not die, and vowed to protect it from those who would bring it harm. Thousands of Spiritualists flocked together to protect the tree, many said they were called to it. The Giving Tree is the main hub of all Spiritual activity in Terra!
The Way Of The Spirits:
Religion is very interesting in the Tribe, not only is their patron God An, but they also heavily have a belief based on the spiritual idea that the universe, and all natural objects within the universe, have souls or spirits. This means that equines believe that souls or spirits exist, not only in themselves, but also in the animals, plants, trees, rocks and all natural forces and phenomena such as the rain, sun and moon. Since they have a natural tie to a connection with the Spirits in the world, it is impossible to have them believe otherwise. Because of this lifestyle, equines often have a very deep relationship with the creatures and nature of the world, Spiritualists are also heavily involved with their guides, believing that they will guide them, teach them, and protect them throughout their life.
