History Of The Thieves Guild

There's no exact date that can be scripted that marks the very beginnings of when the guild was born, as the number of Exiled from those being punished for their crimes began to rise in drastic numbers during the Divine Age and Blood Age from all the panic and fright for survival, the land where the Exiled are sentenced to Lazzarethian, only diminished in resources quicker than could be found by bands. Band leaders had no choice but to draw up a scheme that would allow them assured survival. What started as groups of stallions leaving the land of the exiled and returning with the means to survive for everyone was quickly infiltrated as Knight patrols began to figure their patterns out, and they were killed.  So leaders hit the heart of the richest parts of Terra. Carthago, in WhiteStone Kingdom. One by one they slowly migrated to their newfound hideaway as to not raise suspicion. It was perfect, plenty of food and other resources going to waste by the Divine and their carelessness. Although... This is where the guild began to get its bad rep, because it was founded by Exiled, criminals of all sorts, old habits die hard.. That's where the thieving of riches began, cold murder, and plenty more that goes on within the guild. What was supposed to be ensuring continued survival getting by on what the Divine wastes, had turned into stealing priceless objects from as large as from a kingdom, or irreplaceable to a family, jewelry, anything that anyone wanted was fair game! For selfish reason, or being paid a pretty coin to do so. All of the King Of Thieves have never bothered to change the ways the guild does their business, they're out for themselves and the guilds survival as it was founded upon, no one else matters, they were kicked out from the places that were home to them, others can suffer and feel a little of what they felt too.

Since anyone can remember, Knights of the Order, and wondering individuals have hastily sought out to find the guild, the Knights because the criminals that will be put to death because they've returned to the lands as they were forbidden to do, and to have their kingdom's belongings restored,  and wondering individuals to see the endless amounts of treasure and riches that is said to be within the guild. The location of the guild has been impossible to find since it's creation, just as it should be. The bond of the guild is so tight no one dare reveal the location.

In recent light for the guild however, since there's been a new King Of Thieves, Wolf, the guild is taking winds to a new direction. Don't worry my thieving friends, as the guild still very well does thieve, just, for different reason instead of "Because I can" While old members may have enjoyed the way past Kings have ran the guild, they better like the changes, or get out, or challenge the current King to become the next King Of Thieves. Pirates who once spent the warm months terrorized the seas and oceans robbing other ships out in water now liberate slave carrying ships, traders more honest, the thieves working the streets still thieving, but also give back.

Guild Honor Code

The guild's Honor Code is what the guild lives and dies by, what keeps the peace, and determines punishment when the code is broken by a member.

So, you're an outsider? An outcast just like the rest of us? You'll fit in nice and snug in this guild..

As your current King Of Thieves, like it or lump it, new, weathered, and future members these are my rules, don't like it? That's a shame.

I like to keep things pretty open door, I encourage you to come forth with problems, questions and concerns whatever those may be to me and we will discuss.

I. You will have each other's backs in this guild, there is no one else that will look out for you other than those in this guild, this guild will build camaraderie, look out for your brothers and sisters.

II. Do not steal from anyone less fortunate than yourself, we may be thieves, but we should not subject ourselves to be as cruel as a King can be to his people.

III. The guilds location has been kept a treasured secret since it's beginnings, thousands have come and passed and the location still remain a mystery to the fellow wanderer, Knight and Seeker, you WILL keep it that way. You will also not reveal the names of the members within this guild, remember kitties, we have important members on the inside of the Divine and other places. Without my approval NO ONE outside the guild will be given ANY guild information.

IV. We are not barbaric, times are difficult, but we are a family, and family does not steal from each other, do not steal from another guild member.

V. Give back to the poor, or more fortunate when you can, help those that cannot help themselves .

VII. Responsible for a guild member being jailed? Bail/bust them out yourself.

VIII. Killing /causing physical harm? You're out, we're not assassins, we're thieves. You want to be an assassin perhaps you should have gone in search of the Seekers. DO NOT kill or cause serious harm to ANYONE unless you MUST.

Professions

Everyone pulls their weight in the guild, unless you've just given birth and need to tend to your child, you better find something you're at least half decent at doing to contribute.

Pirate- In the olden times of the guild, pirates terrorized the seas and shores, they pillaged and robbed taking whatever they please taking no prisoners! Chasing dreams and the mysteries of the world all while getting rich was the greatest thing anyone could dream of doing! The bigger and more glorious a Pirate's ship, the more respected they were. Pirates are the same today for the most part, but with a little more care in their hearts, if they come across a ship harboring slaves it is their duty to free them to save them from a life of misery that awaited them when the ship docked.

Trader- Traders work hand in hand with thieves, whatever they steal just for giggles a Trader can sell or trade the item for a large sum or haggle a brainless equine into thinking what they have is the best thing since sliced pie and get a lovely amount of perri for it. Some traders are honest however, and although they are in the guild, they still want to make an honest living of their work.

Thief- Olden day thieves, took what they want just because they could and had to answer to no one, they were also terrorizing the streets, taking what they please, doing what they please, and more dark things.. The current KOT wanted to clean the Thief image up, but not force a huge change as this is the THIEVES guild after all, but what some of the things they were doing did not sit well in the stomach of the KOT. Today their act is cleaned up justtttttt a little better, they still do all the stealing and causing a riot in the streets, but the darker stuff is highly frowned upon although he cannot stop them from doing it, it is not welcomed talk among members. Thieves work the streets and for big heists, are close with the King Of Thieves because he/she will be the one who will have planned such a glorious heist. Thieves have a high stress profession, any moment a Knight could arrest them and kill them on spot, or imprison them for life or right on to the execution.

Spy- Every now and then someone from anywhere could need a little spying done, on anyone, anywhere. They're no Seeker, but a Spy from the guild won't turn down work offered like a Seeker could depending on what's being asked.

Guild Ranks

King Of Thieves- Anyone can be the next King Of Thieves, Pirate, Trader, Thief, Spy, it matters not, the only thing you have to do is simply challenge the current King Of Thieves for the position if they're not willing to give their position to someone else in their aging years. The King, is the best of the best, he/she sets the rules of the code which determines the direction that the guild goes in, there's been many King's and your current one certainly won't be your last. The King oversees all that goes on within the guild, problems , concerns, and the members that are and will come. It's wise not to cross the line of the King..

Master Levels 15+ : A member at a Mastery level has no excuse for things gone south, they've done this too long now to have any excuses. Masters depending, usually partake in events where impeccable expertise is needed, no less will be accepted. Masters can function as calm and cool as can be in the most chaotic and perilous of times, they practically beg to be arrested so that they may make a fool of anyone who has underestimated their wit.

Professional Levels 10-15: Professionals have been in this game a long time, they know the games, tricks, the ins and outs and know how to keep a low profile. Slip ups may still occur here and there, but they are on their way to becoming masters at their craft.

Commoner Levels 5-10: Commoners are just getting their hooves wet in the guild life, becoming comfortable and perhaps beginning to cop an attitude thinking they know it all. Your character will not need the assistance of a Professional or Master any longer, they're on their own to learn through trial and error now.

Rookie Levels 1-5: Rookies are fresh meat to the guild, and have or have not gone through the initiation process. Rookies are likely to be accompanied and mentored by a member ranking as a Professional or Master in the same profession so that the young Rookie may learn the ropes and progress. If your character is making the switch from a Faction to this Faction they will not keep any of their previous XP, however anything they earned prior, they will be allowed to keep.

Unspoken Rules Of The Guild

The guild is made up of a lot of different equines from a lot of different walks of life, but this is the "Mentality" of the guild if you will. The Thieves Guild has been many things throughout its time and all the different King Of Thieves that have come and gone have taken the guild in so many different directions, but these have generally always been the unspoken customs of the guild.

  • In the guild, everyone considers each other family. Calling one another brothers, sisters, even though they aren't always related by blood.

  • There are many many many different kinds of equines in this guild for all different reasons, some having years long quarrels with each other in regards to family wars, all of that depending on the King Of Thieves, should be left behind and differences should be set aside. But nobody can promise that a hoof or two won't be thrown every once in awhile.

  • Because so much comradery is within the guild, it's not uncommon for a lot of affection to be going around, even within the same sex. It is not considered strange to see a friendly kiss or drawn out hug exchanged between two males or females before going off  on a mission and not knowing if you're coming back or not.

  • All genders and sexuality are welcome within the guild, no equine will be turned away or insulted because of their sexual preferences and partners.
